Deep Confusion

Deep Confusion is the name of a blogsite I just heard about through the creator's call in to the Mike Malloy show on Air America. You might want to give the lady a read. Her husband is a doctor in the military flying between Iraq and Germany with our injured. (Disgusting war!)

She also talks about the movie about nine-eleven, Loose Change. If I haven't mention this movie before, I highly recommend this movie but with this caution: you should get/have some exposure to some of the events that occurred then and some background in the deception, lies, and manipulating of this government before you see this move. I can't imagine seeing this without a little preparation. It would put me (and did a little bit anyway) into state of shock. If you have questions about the movie post them here and I will try to help and maybe others as they read will help too.

Bad Treatment from the San Diego Government

Here's an e-mail I just sent complaining about the treatment I got from my government. It sure made me irate! You should have heard his attitude.

Dear San Diego County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price,

As a citizen of your district I called your office requesting a public hearing about the integrity of our voting process here in San Diego County. I'm concerned because the voting machines were taken home by the he voting machines were sent home with volunteer poll workers the night before the election, and in some cases as long as two weeks before the election, and that they are extremely accessible to tampering. I am also concerned that the absentee ballots weren't counted. For example, when Bilbray in the Bilbray/Busby race was declared the winner the SD Voter site still showed a sizeable amount of absentee ballots not yet tallied that could have swung this election either way.

I got a call back from your aide, Jim Gonsalves, who was angry that I should call to complain and ask for a public hearing into this matter. He said who was I (one person) to say such a thing and where was my proof. I told him that that is why I thought there should be public hearings into the matter to see if there was any proof. He asked me who I thought would pay for such a thing.

I AM a citizen and shouldn't be treated this way. He at least should have said he would look into the matter. I guess in politics you can't be nice and I should have demanded a hearing instead of requesting one.

I would appreciate a reply back from you, and under the circumstances, personally.

An Inconvenient Truth

I was part of a four-some today that went to see the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore. I would highly recommend this movie with this caveat; it did put one of our members to sleep. Not the most exciting or action-packed and even a bit dull at times, but the information presented was almost heart-stopping and very startling.

The weather HAS changed noticeably in my lifetime. I remember in the early forties (Yes I am that old) a thin ribbon of smoke from the incinerator (more about that later) going up as far as you could see in a perfectly un-tinted blue…in Los Angeles!

An incinerator was a stove/oven thing we used then to burn our trash. I can still smell the burning of orange peels. We would open the bottom door and pick through the ashes with sticks, pulling out anything unburned, like tin can tops and egg shells and orange peels. We never thought of pollution then, and I’m sure being that young at the time didn’t change that fact.

I was up very late last night after spending hours at a site I heard about. The site is www.peacetakescourage.com and is stunning considering it's published by a 15-year-old girl. I hesitate calling her a girl after seeing some of the things she's done. I would call her a young woman. She's had some death threats for some of the videos she's created. Especially the video named WWJD? which can be seen here. If you click on the "Animations" tab you can see lot of her videos. Also of interest are the tabs "About", "Blog", and "Forum". This whole site is amazing considering her age. I can only assume she's had some help. She has been on several news shows lately. Maybe, just maybe, our votes here in San Diego were "fixed". Brad Blog thinks so. Click on this or the above links to read for yourself.

The voting machines used in Tuesday's election were sent home with volunteer poll workers the night before the election, according to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters office today. As well, The BRAD BLOG has received reports that in some cases, poll workers may have had the machines alone at their houses, unsupervised, for a week or even two prior to Tuesday's election....

The tampering would be invisible, according to the report. "The fact that the results are incorrect cannot be detected except by a recount of the original paper ballots."

For more info on our election results go to San Diego's Registrar of Voters tally at their site and notice at the top in red letters it says 66500 absentee ballots still to be counted. This REALLY needs to be investigated! I refuse to believe my neighbors are stupid enough to vote another crooked Republican to the house, let alone one that was a lobbyist. Aren't lobbyists the ones that worked with Cunningham? Why, I do believe so.

I’ve had some very interesting and mostly positive responses to my political message and a few questions which I will try to answer.
I’m sorry this information was too late for some of you to take advantage of, but voting absentee ballot myself I clearly understand. Normally I would have voted by now, dropping my ballot in the mail the day after I got it. Ever since I realized that there may be some skullduggery with counting our votes I have been delivering my ballot directly by hand to the registrar of voters office directly in order to at least eliminate the handling of my votes by a few less people.

On the issue of supporting Colleen Fernald for Senator I had only just heard of her last week on the Mike Malloy show on Air America. I had been doing searches on Dianne Feinstein trying to find an opponent but with no luck until Mike’s show which coincidentally aired just the night before I got my ballot. I checked a site of the California Democratic Party Progressive Caucus that talked about her speaking at the California Democratic Convention in Sacramento at the end of April. I checked her site and called her office and spoke with her directly. So if you haven’t heard of her I’m not surprised, I hadn’t either. I will try to put what info I have as soon as I can on my heretofore neglected blog.

The next thing I’ve been asked about is immigration reform. First I must say I think this has been blown way out of proportion and is being used for distraction as a political football. When these political shenanigans are going on it’s time to look at what else is happening – like the nomination of Michael Hayden as CIA director for example.

Illegal immigration is a very complex matter. My first reaction was to send all the illegal immigrants back to their home countries. I’ve been concerned about this issue since the 50’s and 60’s. Yes I am that old. Back then the ones coming in from Mexico were called “wet backs” and were thought to be a threat to southern California. We lived in Redlands and they were said to be taking over San Bernardino.

When we discuss illegal immigrants we need to identify which group we’re talking about as the current upheaval seems to deal mainly with those that are from South America. As far as that’s concerned I will talk about immigrants as a whole. I don’t feel that because one group of people is in the spotlight that they should be singled out. If we do then we run the risk of bigotry and racism. If you are blond, blue-eyed and speak perfect English without a hint of and accent and are here illegally you are still as much a criminal as anyone else. I may not like that but that is the law.

Though I would like to send all illegal immigrants back, I think that such a feat for 20 million people is impossible. The only way to cope with this is a compromise and no matter how that compromise is handled it’s going to create some amnesty to some degree. That will be unpopular with just about everybody in one way or another.

You want me to step out on that limb? Ok, then, let’s give every illegal immigrant in this country a work visa for the amount of months they’ve been here. One month here, one month more on a work visa. Five years here, 60 months more on a work visa. Visa is up – you go home or are subject to arrest and deportation. When you get back to your home country (or sooner if allowed) apply for legal immigration.

What about the children? Those of age may stay. Those underage may go with their parent(s) or go to a foster home depending on their parent’s decision. If they leave they can come back when they are of age. I’m cold, yah, I know, but then I’ve never had children. I suspect under the circumstances, if this happened to me I would go back and take my children with me and if I couldn’t provide a better living for them by the time they came of age I would persuade them to go back to America.

Now all of this is really jumping ahead because first we should secure our borders, ports and points of entry – or change the law. AND, before that (or at the same time) we should do what we can to help (or put pressure on) those countries they’re fleeing to improve their living conditions so that leaving a country is a desire not a necessity. For example I’ve visited Mexico and have seen the possibilities there with all those beaches (half the coastline we have here with better weather than us) and natural resources (petroleum, silver, copper, gold, lead, zinc, natural gas, timber, corn and sugar cane). They could be as rich a country if not more wealthy than the U.S. Of course their government would have change and start working for the people instead of their own stingy profit. Oh, wait, that’s like us now. They have the ability to reach the point where they would become so inviting they would have to work to keep us from invading them.

Of course I’m open to any good especially unique solutions. I will pass the best along – if I get any.

As for the Westly/Angelides I’m getting responses of about 50/50 for/against. Someone said Westly was helping the Arnold group unseat Gray Davis. Another point made is that Angelides is more pro-union and Westly is more pro-business.

Then another point of view I received is that all politicians are bad just by the very fact of becoming a politician. This is a good case for voting against all and every incumbent and working to get us voting on the issues and not for a representative to vote for us. Here’s good place for me to jump in and say how much I hate the electoral college way of election we have.

Well, enough of this for now – I’ll summarize peoples opinions as the come in.

I’m breaking my silence with a VERY political message. This is only justified because I stopped writing when I had my problem with my foot. The first (or second) day in the hospital is when the vote came through for king George’s second term. These two things were overwhelmingly devastating but now I’m ready to fight. I promise I will get back to some jokes and comedy soon but first this priority.

This country is in dire straights thanks to the republicans for what they did and thanks to the democrats for what they didn’t do. I think we may be on the verge of a civil war.

The people (us remember U.S.?) need to take the power of government back. We need wrest the control of the republicans in the congress and the senate back to the democrats. After we get checks and balances reinstated (in 2006) we need to start (in 2008) removing and replacing those representatives that aren’t making decisions in our best interests. We may need and probably do need at least one more party – probably five. We need parties to represent the ultra conservative, moderate conservative, centrist or centralist, progressive liberal and radical liberal. With five points of view there is no way two parties can represent us.

The best thing we can do is educate ourselves politically and make the best decision we can when voting. If you don’t know anything about a politician or a proposal do NOT vote on it. The ballot is not a test where you have to answer all the questions. Just vote on the things you know. If you know just a little about a candidate and not sure how to vote, ask yourself how things are going now. If you like things the way they are vote for the incumbent. If you don’t like the way things are going, vote for the challenger.

That being said, get active and pay attention to what’s going on. The rest of this are for those of you voting in California and have a democratic ballot.

Re: the senate race

I am strongly against Dianne Feinstein. You can go here to visit her website or here to view her latest voting record and here to get more of her voting record. Another place to find out how she and other senators voted on a particular issue is to go to the Senate’s page on voting records. In the last few years she has voted more often than not in favor of big government and special interests and corporations as opposed to our best interests.

I am promoting and in favor of one of her opponents; Colleen Fernald. If you read her webpage you might see what I mean.

The third candidate for the senate is Martin Luther Church. After checking out his web site I feel he is too conservative and not progressive enough for me. I would vote for him over Feinstein if Fernald wasn’t running.

Re: the race for the house (50^th district in San Diego)

This is for the candidate replacement of the criminal Randy “Duke” Cunningham. Remember him?

Since Cunningham was/is a republican, that crosses all the republicans off my list for this office. That is: Brian Bilbray who I also consider a crook. If you don’t live in San Diego then you probably don’t know anything about him – just as well. His site on the web is here if you want more info on him.

My choice is for the house is Francine Busby. I am strongly for her as I was when I voted for her two years.

The others running against her are:

William Griffith – Independent
Paul King – Libertarian
Chris Young – Democrat

Re: the Govenator’s race

It looks like the two strongest democratic runners are Steve Westly and Phil Angelides. Of the two I’m leaning towards Westly. I invite all comments on this race to help me make up my mind.

Enough feeling sorry for myself. Enough vegetating waiting for my foot to heal. Enough watching our politicians make fools of us (and themselves too) and feeling guilty I'm not doing enough.

This is the beginning of the rest of my life. Here. Now.

I think this do-nothing (except the wrong thing) president just sat like a "deer caught in headlights" when Nine Eleven happened. I think he and/or his people were behind the whole thing, another "Pearl Harbor" when they needed it - to establish fear and get cooperation from the people who would be otherwise skeptic. Now that he's got us brainwashed with that fear, he wants to install those terrorists in our ports - not six but twenty-one! I hate when I get sold out and when it's my whole country, I really get pissed.

Second big "deer caught in headlights" was when Katrina hit New Orleans. He couldn't get it together then and now six months later still can't get it together. He either truly doesn't care about black people or he truly doesn't know how to manage a catastrophe. OR BOTH! Probably still thinks if there is an impending threat you need to grab the nearest roll of duck tape and hide under a desk.

I'm feeling a tear in the force, restlessness, anxiety, people getting antsy. Is there a revolution brewing? I suppose November will be the tipping point - whether we have fair elections or if they get stolen again. If they do I'm afraid all hell is going to break through. We the people, for who this government works, have had enough waiting and patience for them to get it right. We DON'T want their New World Order! It's time to take back our government so that they may rule in favor of us - We The People. If we can't have things back the way they were then we at least want things better than before. Are you better off now than you were five years ago? NO?

The first thing we should do is add an amendment stating we will never allow a President or ruler the power King or even King light.

This one has broken the law by defying the FISA act in spying on us illegally. He says he doesn't use e-mail 'cuz he doesn't want us reading his things. If anyone’s "things" should be read to the public it's what he’s been writing and saying. If anyone should lose their privacy is the president and our politicians since they work for us.

Well enough of this tirade - it feels good to be doing something again at long last.

SBC wants to add 94¢ to our monthly phone bill

I got a notice from SBC that they filed an application (A05-03-0050) with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to raise the monthly rate of all San Diego retail customer telephone lines with a 94 cent surcharge. This is for the City’s underground project. I protest this charge since if it is mandated by the city should be paid by the city. If it’s an SBC project then SBC should pay for it. If they don’t want to then it should just be done as a maintenance procedure when the wiring needs to be replaced. (I must say it’s easy for me to say since mine is already underground.)

It's interesting that SBC filed this under the name PACIFIC BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY. You can see this if you click on the above link.

Redrawing Districts

The governor has a plan to redraw state voting districts. Currently, the Legislature determines district boundaries for its members and for California's congressional delegation. Schwarzenegger wants to transfer that power to a panel of retired judges, so new districts can be carved. He hopes the change would create more competitive elections, producing a Legislature that might be a more amenable partner than the heavily Democratic one now.

BUT, all this while calling James Hartline, an evangelical Christian activist, pleading for help and saying he did not cave in, and wants to explain why he changed his decision.

Twenty-five years ago a Catholic priest, Archbishop Oscar Romero, was shot and killed in accordance with the U.S. initiated, or at least supported, "Salvador Option". He was a big supporter of the poor and lower class in San Salvador and was killed because of his opposition to the occupation. This is from Tom Paine's blog. This policy is still being used today in Iraq and the Pentagon is still considering using those death squad tactics today. This will only hasten a civil war in Iraq and kill even more innocent civilians.

The head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego, Bishop Robert Brom, that refused the funeral for a prominent gay businessman has reversed his decision and will have a special Mass for John McCusker. He apologized to McCusker’s family and will hold a special Mass in memory of John.

President Bush signed legislation early today, like one o’clock in the morning, that would allow a federal court to intervene in the case of Terri Schiavo. A judge in Tampa, FL scheduled a 3 p.m. hearing to consider a to reinsert her feeding tube.

I just saw Gavin Newsom, mayor of San Francisco talk to Chris Mathews on Hardball on MSNBC. He was very impressive. He mostly was defending gay marriage in his interview but his moral values and convictions and his standing up for them and standing up to Chris were amazing. I predict this guy is going to be very big in politics.

Another Bush crony fails upward. Paul Wolfowitz wins the presidency of the World Bank. I never would have guessed that he would be chosen for this job. I wonder what his qualifications are, and if he even has any. This administration doesn't stop astounding me - even when I think, "I never thought I'd see that", they fool me. I can't figure it out; is it hubris or ignorance or is even that reading too much into it?

My dander is up again. The repugs yesterday voted to give Bush an additional 30 billion $$$ for his war. They turned down 3 billion for the wounded veterans and military compensation for the work they're doing. They say the Dems are not patriotic and yet I bet we would give them the money they needed, if not more!

Yay, Randi Rhodes, my radio goddess is back! (She can be heard at Air America Radio.)

On a personal note, my last day for oral antibiotics is tomorrow and Sunday is the last day for my I.V. antibiotics. On Monday they remove my P.I.C. line. More Yay!

My last five months

This is for those of you who don’t know me.

I am at the end of a four and-a-half month stay in bed after a transmetatarsal amputation of my left foot due to Diabetes. (I lost my toes – if anyone can help me find them, please, let me know.)

My last day out of bed was before Halloween. I was in the hospital for 10 days and have been in bed since. I will finish a six-week I.V. and oral antibiotic treatment in a week and had my last home health care nurse visit today.

I can now get up for an hour at a time a couple times a day. Yeah!

It looks to me like the standard news, TV, radio, and newspapers have failed in their purpose of reporting the news.

I’ve been frustrated the last couple of years of not getting the entire truth. Then I found, thanks to my friend Ernie, Air America Radio (on the Internet) with my (now) favorite radio nostess Randi Rhodes. And then I found the New News the political blogs. Now at least I can get another viewpoint, and if not the truth, a lot closer to it than the ‘regular’ media.

As I work on this my next challenge will be to try to find out how to get people to read this.
